Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Use of ARPA Funding took center stage during the Effingham County Board Meeting Tuesday.
The Board approved disbursement of funds for acquisition of a vehicle for the animal control department and for the Supervisor of Assessments office. The Board also reduced the amount of earmarked funds for the Effingham Regional Career Academy from $330,000 to $77,000. Heartland Human Services funding was also reduced to $14,000. Disbursement of ARPA funds to Effingham City/County Special Response Team and the Gazebo at the Courthouse lawn were also approved.
A couple items, however, were tabled so they could be looked into further. ARPA funding for the County Website was sent back to the Tax and Finance Committee to decide if the website could be renovated instead, and some board members wanted more local vendors to get a chance at the project.
Jim Niemann, former chairman of the Board, was approved to the position of EMA Assistant Coordinator, with Elizabeth Houston voting against. Shannon Griffith was also named to the County 708 Board. Appointment of Sheriff Paul Kuhns to the 911 Board was delayed until the Attorney General’s Office determines whether sheriffs can be appointed to this board.
Intergovernmental agreements were also approved with:
- City of Effingham
- Village of Teutopolis
- City of Altamont
These agreements are for law enforcement automatic mutual aid.
Dave Campbell was absent from this meeting.
