Announcement From The Clay County Highway Department

Seasonal reduced weight limits are in effect January 15th until further notice for all roads included in the county highway system with seasonal weight limit signs. If there is not a seasonal weight limit sign, legal loads are allowed. This weight limit applies only to the county highways.

Weight limit restrictions may be in place on township roads. Please contact the respective township road commissioner. For further information please visit the Engineer/ Highway website under Offices Section of the Clay County web site at www.claycountyillinois.org. The highway department would like to keep the roads open as much as possible.

PLEASE respect the load limits when they are in effect. Damaging the roads with heavy loads not only costs taxpayer money but it also affects your neighbors and fellow Clay County residents. Please be kind and respect the load limits.
