Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Effingham Noon Rotarians were updated on the Effingham Showcase Center recently.
The Rotarians met on December 14th.
During the meeting, Rotarians heard from Ryan Engel.
Engel is helping with the development of the proposed Center.
The Center is proposed to be developed east of the Workman Sports and Wellness Center, north of the Harmony Playground and Evergreen Hollow Park.
According to Engel, any number of sporting events’ courts and fields could be part of the Center, and the domed facility would be unique to Effingham.
Engel said that the hard costs for the facility currently sit at $41 million.
However, a feasibility study on the project estimates that the annual impact on the community will be $13-16 million.
Effingham Noon Rotarian, Courtney Yockey, who is also on the development board for the project served as the weekly program chairman for the meeting.
