Mattoon Police arrested Zeth M. Oliver, age 36 of Mattoon, for Aggravated Discharged of Firearm, Reckless Discharge of Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon. The arrest occurred on November 4th at 9:47pm in the 2800 block of Pine Ave.
On October 28th Mattoon Police Officers responded to Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital in reference to a patient with a gunshot wound. During the investigation, Mr. Oliver was identified as the suspect in the shooting by the victim. It is alleged that Mr. Oliver shot at individuals during an altercation in the early morning hours of October 28th in the 2100 block of Champaign Ave. Later that day, Mr. Oliver shot the victim in the leg while inside a vehicle.
Coles County Crisis Response Team assisted with the apprehension of Mr. Oliver. Mr. Oliver was transported to the Coles County Jail. His bond was set at $250,000 (10% applies).
Records indicate that Mr. Oliver is currently on parole through the Illinois Department of Corrections for a 2015 conviction of Delivery of Methamphetamine 15-100 grams and Residential Burglary. He is currently on probation through Coles County for 2016 convictions of Armed Robbery w/ Firearm and Kidnapping.
