Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Effingham resident Martin Hubbard has been sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole. The sentence without parole is required by statute.
An Effingham County jury in July found Hubbard guilty of eight counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child. The charges alleged that Hubbard improperly touched children staying at Hubbard’s Daycare, run by his wife.
Assistant State’s Attorney Rob Scales handled the case for the State, since State’s Attorney Aaron Jones has only been on the job for a few days. Scales assisted former State’s Attorney Bryan Kibler in prosecuting the case.
Hubbard declined to make a statement in his defense, nor did his defense counsel offer any additional comments. Hubbard’s attorney did announce that they plan to appeal.
