Shelbyville, IL-(Effingham Radio)- A Pana man was sentenced to 7.5 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.The following has been released by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office on their Facebook Page:
“CHRISTOPHER M. GREAR SENTENCED TO THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR UNLAWFUL PARTICIPATION IN METHAMPHETAMINE MANUFACTURE AND AGGRAVATED FLEEING AND ELUDING
Shelby County State’s Attorney Nichole Kroncke announced that on July 20, 2022, Christopher M. Grear, age 48 of Pana, pled guilty to the offenses of Unlawful Participation in Methamphetamine Manufacture and Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Peace Officer.
Grear was sentenced to 7 ½ years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the Methamphetamine charge and a concurrent 3 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for Aggravated Fleeing.
Shelby County Deputy Andrew Mudgette attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Grear for a minor traffic violation on March 22, 2021 on Route 16 in Tower Hill.
Grear failed to stop and led deputies on a thirty-eight minute pursuit covering more than fifteen miles through Tower Hill and then onto county roads into Christian County.
During the pursuit approximately ½ gram of methamphetamine, a digital scale, and multiple baggie corners were thrown from the sunroof of the vehicle, which became disabled after Grear drove into a field.
A methamphetamine pipe along with a padlocked box were located inside the vehicle.
The padlocked box contained lye, batteries, tubing, lighters, and multiple small baggies, items commonly used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.”
