
Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Cromwell Media News Team recently held an interview with Homer “Chip” Markel, Democratic Candidate for the 12th Congressional District of Illinois. He will be running to unseat Mike Bost if he wins the June 28th primary race. Joshua Qualls is also running as a Democrat in the same district.
Question 1: Mike Bost has voted no on some recent bills, including the “Protecting Our Kids Act” and the “Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act,” while also voting yes on the “Access To Baby Formula Act” and “Federal Firefighters Fairness Act of 2022.” What are your thoughts on his recent voting record, and how would yours differ if elected?
Question 2: What are your thoughts on the State Auditor General’s report stating that Illinois paid out nearly $2B in fraudulent unemployment claims during the pandemic?
Question 3: What would you do if elected to help struggling Illinois families being hit hard by inflation?
Question 4: The ruling on Roe V. Wade is likely to come down soon. What are your thoughts, and what would you do in response if you get elected? (Update: Roe V. Wade has officially been overturned as of June 24th)
Question 5: The January 6th Commission Hearings have been going on for the last week or so, and many people have expressed their dissatisfaction over how it is being handled. stating it appears to be too partisan in nature. What are your thoughts?
Homer Markel also explained that all he wants is a chance to prove himself to the voters of Southern Illinois.
