ISP Traffic Crash In Vermilion County

Vermillion County, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by the Illinois State Police District 10:

WHAT:

• Two Vehicle Fatal Traffic Crash

WHERE:

• Interstate 74 westbound at milepost 200.5, Vermillion County

WHEN:

• May 19, 2022 at approximately 8:50 p.m.

VEHICLE:

• Unit 1 – 2009 Red Harley Davidson Touring Motorcycle
• Unit 2 – 2013 Black Jeep Cherokee

DRIVERS:                 

• Unit 1 – Timothy E. Davis, a 28-year-old male from Mahomet, IL – Deceased
• Unit 2 – Essence E. Anderson, a 29-year-old female from Normal, IL –     Transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

PASSENGERS:         

• Unit 2 – 6-year-old female from Normal, IL – Transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
• Unit 2 – 9-year-old male from Normal, IL – Transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

PRELIMINARY:    

• A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling in right lane behind Unit 2.  Unit 1 failed to reduce its speed and crashed into Unit 2.  Unit 1 then lost control spinning out and ejecting the driver.  The driver of Unit 1 was pronounced deceased on scene.
