WHAT:
- Two Vehicle Traffic Crash with Injuries
WHERE:
- The intersection of Illinois Route 4 and Browning Road, Springfield, Sangamon County
WHEN:
- Jan. 20, 2022 at approximately 10:15 p.m.
VEHICLES:
- Unit 1 – White 2011 Ford Crown Victoria (Springfield Police Department Squad)
- Unit 2 – Black 2007 Lincoln MKZ
DRIVERS:
- Unit 1 – A 27-year-old male officer from the Springfield Police Department – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
- Unit 2 – A 58-year-old male from Springfield, IL – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
PRELIMINARY:
- Preliminary reports indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was responding to an emergency call for service while traveling southbound on Illinois Route 4 near Browning Road. Unit 2 was traveling eastbound on Browning Road near Illinois Route 4. While traveling through the intersection, the front bumper of Unit 1 struck the driver’s side door of Unit 2. Both drivers were transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No further information will be disseminated at this time.
