Lisle, IL-(Effingham Radio)- A group of Benedictine monks is cutting ties with a high profile Illinois Catholic high school over the school’s decision to hire a girls lacrosse coach who’s in a same-sex marriage.
St. Procopius Abbey’s will separate from the school following the hiring of Amanda Kammes. St. Procopius founded the Lisle high school more than 120 years ago and is one of Benet’s biggest donors.
Benet came under fire last fall when it initially rescinded an offer to Kammes upon learning that she is in a same-sex marriage. The school’s board of director reversed that decision following public outcry.
