Newton, IL -(Effingham Radio)- A staple of the City of Newton has been forever changed by fire damage.
“Yesterday’s Pub,” a restaurant, bar, and home to the owners of the establishment, was engulfed in flames Monday night, and the damage was extensive. No one was injured in the fire, but the building sustained massive damage. It is thought to be one of the oldest structures in Newton.
Here is the official statement from the Wade Fire Protection District:
On August 24th, Wade Fire was dispatched to a structure fire with report of a female subject still on the second floor at 107 West Jourdan, Yesterday’s Pub at 12:02am. Upon arrival, we had heavy fire coming out of the southwest corner of the building. Wade command decided to pull 1 3/4 pre-connected lines to make entry to the second floor. The female subject was able to get out of the back of the building. Wade command went to a box alarm which pulled up Greenup Fire and Teutopolis Fire with towers and Olney Fire with a snorkel truck.
