Effingham, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The following information comes from the Mattoon Police Department:
Mattoon Police arrested Albert Pickett, age 44 of Mattoon, for the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.
The arrest occurred on August 13th at 2:40pm in the 1100 block of Charleston Ave. The charge alleges that during a traffic stop Pickett was found to be in possession of several bags/wrappers of Heroin. The investigation further revealed that Pickett was selling Heroin. Records indicate that Pickett is currently on parole through the Illinois Department of Corrections for Aggravated Battery of a Child and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Pickett was transported to the Coles County Safety and Detention Center. His bond was set at $75,000 (10% applies).

Mattoon Police arrested Brice M. Fritz, age 25 of Charleston, for the offenses of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver and Possession of Methamphetamine.
The arrest occurred on August 16th at 10:09am in the 700 block of Broadway Ave. East. The charge alleges that Fritz was in possession of Heroin and Methamphetamine during a traffic stop. Further evidence revealed that the Heroin was laced with fentanyl and that Fritz was selling the substance at the time. Fritz was transported to the Coles County Safety and Detention Center. Her bond was set at $35,000 (10% applies).

Mattoon Police arrested Leonard C. Stafford Jr., age 45 of Mattoon, for the offenses of Aggravated Assault, Threatening a Public Official, and Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officer.
The arrest occurred on August 19th at 12:46pm in the 1500 block of S. 2nd St. Mattoon Officers responded to the area after receiving a complaint of a man waiving a firearm in the air. Upon arrival, Officers found Stafford in possession of a paintball gun, that had been altered to look like a real firearm. After Stafford was taken into custody he refused to cooperate during the booking process and threatened great bodily harm and death towards an arresting Police Officer. Stafford was transported to the Coles County Safety and Detention Center. His bond was set at $400,000 (10% applies).
