
Champaign, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 10:
WHAT:
- Two Unit Personal Injury Traffic Crash
WHERE:
- US 45 southbound at North Street, Thomasboro, Champaign County
WHEN:
- July 10, 2021 at approximately 1:13 p.m.
VEHICLES:
- Unit 1- 2013 Tan Buick Lacrosse
- Unit 2- 2016 Brown Ford Fusion
DRIVERS:
- Unit 1- Stacy Dillard, 56-year-old male from Urbana, IL
- Unit 2- Helen Curtis, 83-year-old female from Urbana, IL – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.
PASSENGERS:
- Unit 1- Shaelyn Garrett, 19-year-old female from Rantoul, IL
- Unit 2- Michael Curtis, 58-year-old male from Urbana, IL – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.
PRELIMINARY:
- Preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 2 and Unit 1 were both traveling south on US 45 approaching North Street in Champaign County. The driver of Unit 1 failed to slow down, swerved to avoid Unit 2 but struck the rear driver side of Unit 2. Unit 2 rolled over into the center median where Unit 1 struck the passenger side of Unit 2. Unit 1 and Unit 2 came to rest in the center median. Both the driver and Passenger of Unit 2 were transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of injuries. Both the driver and passenger of Unit 1 reported no injuries. This crash is still under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
CHARGES:
- The driver of Unit 1 was cited for Aggravated DUI – Alcohol, Driving While License Revoked, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
