WHAT:
- Two Unit Traffic Crash with Injury
WHERE:
- Interstate 70 eastbound at Milepost 64.5, Vandalia Township, Fayette County.
WHEN:
- June 17, 2021, at 4:25 p.m.
VEHICLES:
- Unit 1 – Silver 2001 Toyota Sienna
- Unit 2 – White 2020 Freightliner Truck Tractor Semi-Trailer
DRIVERS:
- Unit 1 – Lee R. Ruth, an 80-year-old male from Columbia, MO – Refused medical attention.
- Unit 2 – Christopher A. Barnhart, a 47-year-old male from Willard, MO – Refused medical attention.
PASSENGER:
- Unit 1 – Rena L. Ruth, a 78-year-old female from Columbia, MO – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
PRELIMINARY:
- Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Both units were traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 at Milepost 64.5.
- Unit 1 was in the left lane and Unit 2 was in the right lane. As traffic was slowing due to the construction zone, Unit 1 lost control and the front of Unit 1 struck the driver’s side of Unit 2.
- The passenger of Unit 1 was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No further information will be disseminated at this time.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
