WHAT:
- Two Unit Traffic Crash with Injury
WHERE:
- Interstate 57 northbound, just south of Milepost 143, Mason Township, Effingham County
WHEN:
- May 26, 2021, at 8:04 p.m.
VEHICLES:
- Unit 1 – White 2019 Freightliner Sprinter Van
- Unit 2 – White 2015 Kenworth Truck Tractor Semi-Trailer
DRIVERS:
- Unit 1 – Carol E. Diaz, a 49-year-old male from Miami, FL –Transported by ambulance to a regional hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
- Unit 2 – Vladimir Litvinov, a 56-year-old female from Toronto, ON – Refused medical attention.
PRELIMINARY:
- Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 and Unit 2 were traveling northbound on Interstate 57, just south of Milepost 143. Unit 1 was traveling directly behind Unit 2 and rear-ended the semi-trailer of Unit 2. The driver of Unit 1 was transported by ambulance to a regional hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No further information will be disseminated at this time.
CHARGES:
- The driver of Unit 1 was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
