Effingham, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Candidate for State Representative for the 107th District David Seiler stopped by our studio for an interview. Many topics were discussed. The interview was conducted by Derek Warren, Assistant News Director for Cromwell Media Effingham.
Question 1: You grew up in the Shumway area and went to school at Beecher City. How would you bring those small town values to Springfield if you’re elected?
Question 2: I see you went to Lake Land College, as did I. How would you propose making community colleges more affordable for everyone so there is no child left behind because of financial status?
Question 3: There are a lot of questions and some misconceptions about the graduated tax that is on the ballot this year. Could you explain your position on the tax, and explain why you feel that way? And what is being said about it that may not be entirely accurate?
Question 4: With this pandemic still ongoing, what ideas do you have to help people who may have lost their insurance through their employer? What could the state do to help them out?
Question 5: I then asked Mr. Seiler what he thought of the Governor’s response to the pandemic, and if he thought anything should have been done differently.
Question 6: What are your thoughts on legalized marijuana? I know your opponent, Blaine Wilhour opposed the legalization. How do you feel about it moving forward as well?
Question 7: How would you try to normalize bipartisanship again? What ideas do you have to bring both sides to the table?
Question 8: Mr. Seiler also shared his thoughts on the cutback amendment from 1980.
Question 9: This may be the first election in history where more people vote before the election than on election day. What would you say to any undecided voters and/or people who may not vote in every election to get them out to vote this time?
Question 10: For the final question, what would you say is the biggest difference between you and your opponent, Blaine Wilhour?
We thank Mr. Seiler for taking the time to do an interview with us. We hope to have an interview with Rep. Wilhour in the coming weeks.
