Irving, TX -(Effingham Radio)- Texas-based Vistra Energy is planning to close all of its Illinois coal-fired plants within a decade.
The move will shutter nine plants in the state, as well as three others in Ohio.
Vistra is working to move toward solar energy installations and industrial-size batteries that store power from solar and wind sources.
Closing the coal-fired plants will reduce pollution and promote clean air in the Midwest and Northeast.
