- Unit 4: 2001 Chevrolet Malibu
- Unit 5: 1999 Chevrolet Blazer
- Unit 6: 2019 Freightliner Truck-Tractor Semi Trailer
DRIVER:
- Unit 1: Unknown at this time
- Unit 2: Waiting next of kin notification (Deceased)
- Unit 3: 40-year-old-male of Richland, IN
- Unit 4: 59-year-old male of Charleston, IL (Transported to Area Hospital with Injuries)
- Unit 5: 22-year-old male of Newark, IL
- Unit 6: 50-year-old male of Port Saint Lucie, FL
PRELIMINARY:
- Preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Units 2-6 were stopped at approximately milepost 183 due to traffic being backed up for a crash at milepost 188. Unit 1 failed to slow down striking Unit 2. Unit 1 then struck Unit 3 causing its trailer to enter the left lane. Unit 1 then struck Unit 4 causing it to be pushed into the back of Unit 5. Unit 6 was stationary in the left lane when the trailer of Unit 3 struck it due to being hit by Unit 1.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
