Mattoon, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The following information has been released directly from the Mattoon Police Department:
Mattoon Police arrested Glenn A. James, 57 years of age of Mattoon, for two separate counts of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.
Both arrest occurred on 5/8/2020, when Mr. James was arrested the first time at 2:04pm in the 800 block of N. 22nd Street, and again later at 4:54pm on S. Rt 45 near Old State Road. The charges allege that on 5/8/2020 at approximately 1:50pm, police received a call of a motorist running over headstones at Dodge Grove cemetery. Shortly after, police received a second call that the same vehicle had backed into a motorist in the 800 block of N. 22nd Street. Police arrived on scene, identified the driver as being Mr. James, and took him into custody for DUI. Mr. James showed a blood alcohol content of .18. Mr. James vehicle was towed, and he was issued a court date after being processed, and was released. The charges further allege that later at approximately 4:52pm, police were advised of a possible intoxicated driver in the area of S and S Towing on S. Rt 45 in Mattoon. Police responded and located the vehicle still on S. Rt 45 near Old State Road, at which time police stopped the vehicle, and identified the driver again as being Mr. James, this time in a different motor vehicle. Mr. James was arrested again for DUI, showing a blood alcohol content of .16, and was taken to the Coles County Jail.

Mattoon Police arrested Neil R. Hall, 40 years of age of Mattoon, for the offense of Domestic Battery.
The arrest occurred on 5/8/2020 at 3:17pm in the 4200 block of Lakeland Blvd in Mattoon. The charge alleges that on 5/8/2020 while in the 4200 block of Lakeland Blvd, and during a domestic disturbance, Mr. Hall kicked a female to her abdomen. Mr. Hall was taken to the Coles County Jail.

Mattoon Police arrested Des W. Coffman, 20 years of age of Mattoon, for the offense of Domestic Battery.
The arrest occurred on 5/8/2020 at 3:48pm in the 600 block of Marion Ave in Mattoon. The charge alleges that on 5/8/2020 at approximately 12pm, it was reported to officers that on 5/6/2020 while in the 1400 block of Marshall Ave in Mattoon, and during a domestic disturbance, Mr. Coffman punched a female in the face. Mr. Coffman was located at 3:48pm and was taken to the Coles County Jail.

Mattoon Police arrested Aaron M. Conrad, 32 years of age of Mattoon, for the offenses of Domestic Battery, Interfering with the Reporting of Domestic Violence, Unlawful Restraint, and Resisting/Obstructing a Police Officer.
The arrest occurred on 5/8/2020 at 10:05pm in the 500 block of Broadway Ave in Mattoon. The charges allege that on 5/8/2020 while in the 500 block of Broadway Ave in Mattoon, and during a domestic disturbance, Mr. Conrad struck a female to her face, torso, and hands, and held a knife to her chest. The charges further allege Mr. Conrad had threatened the female with physical harm should she attempt to flee the apartment, and also that Mr. Conrad had been monitoring the females phone calls to prevent her from calling for police assistance. The charges allege that when police arrested Mr. Conrad, he struggled with officers. Mr. Conrad was taken to the Coles County Jail.

Mattoon Police arrested Courtney L. Hediger, 32 years of age of Pasadena, TX, for the offenses of 2 counts of Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, and Unlawful Possession of Firearm Ammunition by a Felon.
The arrest occurred on 5/9/2020 at 7:44am in the 800 block of Marion Ave in Mattoon. The charges allege that on 5/9/2020 while in the 800 block of Marion Ave, police located a motor vehicle which had been stolen out of Texas. The occupant of the vehicle was identified as being Mr. Hediger. During an interview with police, Mr. Hediger admitted to having stolen the vehicle in Texas approximately 2 weeks prior, and further admitted to having just stolen another vehicle in Mattoon, which had just been reported to police as having been stolen from the 1400 block of Stinson Ave in Mattoon on this date. The charges also allege Mr. Hediger was in possession of ammunition during the time of his arrest, and that he is a convicted felon. Mr. Hediger was taken to the Coles County Jail.

Mattoon Police arrested Jesse C. Schwerdt, 40 years of age of Mattoon, for the offense of Possession of Methamphetamine.
The arrest occurred on 5/10/2020 at 4:41am in the 2100 block of Champaign Ave in Mattoon. The charge alleges that on 5/10/2020 in the 2100 block of Champaign Ave, while police were in the area conducting an investigation into an unrelated matter, police made contact with Mr. Schwerdt, at which time police found Mr. Schwerdt to be in possession of Methamphetamine. Mr. Schwerdt was taken to the Coles County Jail.

Mattoon Police arrested David W. Simpson Jr, 29 years of age of Mattoon, for the offense of Criminal Trespass to Property.
The arrest occurred on 5/9/2020 at 11am in the 2100 block of Prairie Ave in Mattoon. The charge alleges that on 5/9/2020, Mr. Simpson entered upon property located in the 2100 block of Prairie Ave, which he had previously been banned from. Mr. Simpson was issued a court date and was released.

Mattoon Police arrested James L. Connelly, 28 years of age of Shelbyville, IL, for the offense of Forgery.
The arrest occurred on 5/10/2020 at 11am at Mattoon PD. The charge alleges that on 5/9/2020, Mr. Connelly attempted to pass a counterfeit one hundred dollar bill while at the BP Gas station located at 12th and Charleston in Mattoon. Mr. Connelly was issued a court date and was released.
