Springfield, IL -(Effingham Radio)- U.S Senator Dick Durbin is calling Illinois Senate President Don Harmon’s pension proposal “unrealistic.”
Harmon sent a letter to Congress last month requesting ten billion dollars in pension relief for state retirement systems.
Durbin said over the weekend that Illinois shouldn’t look to the federal government to fix the state’s pension problems.
He also said that requests for federal help should be limited to actual budget losses at the state and local level associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
