WHAT:
- Two Vehicle Injury Traffic Crash
WHERE:
- Interstate 57 Southbound milepost 163, Effingham County
WHEN:
- Apr. 6, 2020 at 7:55 p.m.
VEHICLE:
- Unit 1- 2006 Beige Mercedes Benz
- Unit 2- 2005 Maroon Freightliner Truck Tractor Semi-Trailer combination
DRIVER:
- Unit 1- Philip Stein, 37 year old male from Effingham, IL – transported to an area hospital with minor injuries
- Unit 2- Fikadu Tesefahuney, 32 year old male from Alexandria, VA – uninjured
PRELIMINARY:
- A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Units 1 and 2 were both traveling southbound on Interstate 57 near milepost 163 in the right lane. Unit 2 slowed due to traffic. Unit 1 struck Unit 2 in the rear. Unit 1 driver was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
CHARGES:
- Unit 1 driver was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
