
Effingham, IL -(Vandalia Radio)- The number of COVID-19 cases in Illinois continues to grow, as the number of people who have lost their life to the virus.
During their daily briefing, Illinois Department of Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike announced there are 168 new cases of COVID-19 in Illinois and another death, bringing the total in the state to 753 positive cases and 6 deaths. Dr. Ezike says the latest death was a man in his 70s from Cook County.
She says they offer their condolences to the family.
Dr. Ezike reminds there are some very easy steps that individuals can take to help protect themselves, their neighbors and health care workers on the front lines.
There are now a total of 26 counties with cases in Illinois. The closest cases to our area remain the 3 cases in Clinton County, 3 cases in St. Clair County, 2 cases in Madison County and 1 in Cumberland County.
