Cumberland County, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12:
WHAT:
- Two Unit Injury Traffic Crash
WHERE:
- IL 121 at 1000 North, Cumberland County
WHEN:
- Mar. 17, 2020 at 9:32 a.m.
VEHICLE:
- Unit 1- 2017 Gray Jeep
- Unit 2- 2014 Gold Dodge Van
DRIVER:
- Unit 1- Karen L. Bline, 57 year old female of Mattoon, IL
- Unit 2- Norbert E. Wolke, 86 year old male of Montrose, IL
PASSENGER:
- Unit 2- Ruth E. Wolke, 84 year old of Montrose, IL
PRELIMINARY:
- A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 2 was northbound on IL 121 approaching Cumberland County Road 1000N. Unit 2 signaled to make a left turn onto County Road 1000N. An uninvolved truck tractor semi-trailer combination was following Unit 2. Unit 1 was behind the truck tractor combination. Unit 1 pulled out into the left lane to pass the truck tractor. As Unit 2 pulled across the southbound lane to make the left hand turn, Unit 1 struck the driver’s side of Unit 2. Units 1 and 2 came to rest in the southbound lane of IL 121. The driver of Unit 1 was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of Unit 2 refused medical treatment.
CHARGES:
- Unit 1 Driver was cited for Improper Passing.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
