Piatt County, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 10:
WHAT:
- Fatal Traffic Crash

- IL RT 105 at Piatt County Rd 1350 N
WHEN:
- 01/11/2020 at 2:01 p.m.
VEHICLES:
- Unit 1: Black 2008 Honda Accord
- Unit 2: Black 2012 Nissan Sentra
- Unit 3: White 2016 Ford Fiesta
DRIVERS:
- Unit 1: Conrad Gillespie, 22, Bement, IL
- Unit 2: Female, 56, Bement, IL
- Unit 3: Arthur Anderson, 51, Bement, IL
PRELIMINARY:
- According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, the driver of Unit 1 was traveling northbound on Illinois Rt. 105 just south of Piatt County Rd 1350 N. The driver of Unit 2 was traveling southbound on Illinois Rt. 105 at Piatt County Rd 1350 N. Unit 3 was traveling northbound on Illinois Rt. 105 at Piatt County Rd 1350 N. Unit 1 attempted to pass Unit 3 in the southbound lane, and struck Unit 2. Unit 1 was then pushed back into the northbound lane, striking Unit 3. The driver of Unit 2 was pronounced deceased on scene by the Piatt County Coroner. The Piatt County Coroner will release the name of deceased once next of kin notification has been completed.
TRANSPORTED:
- Unit #1 driver was transported to an area hospital for serious injuries.
- Unit #2 driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
- Unit #3 driver was treated for minor injuries and released.
SEATBELTS:
- Seatbelts were worn.
CHARGES:
- Unit #1 driver was cited for Improper Passing, Improper Lane Usage and Possession of Adult Use Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
