
Mattoon, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The following has been released by the Mattoon Police Department:
August 27, 2019
- Mattoon Police arrested Ponya L. Brown, 40 years of age of Mattoon, for the offense of Theft. The arrest occurred on 08/27/2019 at 10:53am at Mattoon PD. The charge alleges that on 8/22/19 while at Walmart in Mattoon, Ms. Brown removed items from Walmart without paying for them. Ms. Brown was issued a court date and was released.
- Mattoon Police arrested Amado Hernandez, 42 years of age of Mattoon, for the offenses of Criminal Sexual Assault and Possession of Controlled Substances. The arrest occurred on 08/27/2019 at 1:00pm in the 3900 block of Western in Mattoon. The charges allege that while working as a massage therapist in the 3900 block of Western Ave, Mr. Hernandez intentionally made unwanted sexual contact with a female client. The charges also allege that during a search warrant of Mr. Hernandez work area, numerous controlled substances were located, which Mr. Hernandez had no prescription for. Mr. Hernandez was taken to the Coles County Jail.
August 28, 2019
- Mattoon Police arrested Jennifer L. Schnibben, 46 years of age of Mattoon, for the offense of Theft. The arrest occurred on 08/28/2019 at 3:36pm at Mattoon PD. The charge alleges that on 8/22/2019 while employed at Steak N Shake in Mattoon, Ms. Schnibben stole money from the business by way of manipulating cash drawer transactions. Ms. Schnibben was issued a notice to appear in court and was released.
August 29, 2019
- Mattoon Police arrested Melanie A. Seymour, 38 years of age of Mattoon, for the offenses of Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, and Resisting Police Officers. The arrest occurred on 08/29/2019 at 12:12am in the 1500 block of Rudy Ave in Mattoon. The charge alleges that on 8/28/2019 at 9:48pm, MPD was dispatched to Jack Flash gas station located at 4920 Lakeland BLVD, reference a domestic dispute involving a female named Melanie Seymour. Police made contact with Ms. Seymour, who was inside her vehicle, and fled from police after they approached her vehicle and asked for identification. Officers then attempted to stop Ms. Seymour, who continued to flee from officers while disregarding traffic control devices, and making illegal lane changes. Ms. Seymour eventually stopped in the 1500 block of Rudy, at which time officers again approached the vehicle. Ms. Seymour refused officers demands to exit the vehicle, and drove away again. Officers again pursued Ms. Seymour, however eventually terminated the pursuit. After midnight on 8/29/2019, Ms. Seymour was again located in the 1500 block of Rudy, and was arrested.
