Springfield, IL -(Effingham Radio)- A new law is aimed at helping Illinois craft distilleries grow.
Governor Pritzker signed a bill yesterday which creates two licenses depending on how much a distillery produces.
Those producing less than five-thousand gallons of spirits can apply for an exemption to sell their product on their own.
Distillers say the move levels the playing field, and gives small distilleries the same chance as breweries and wineries.
The bill takes effect immediately.
