FAYETTE COUNTY, IL-(Effingham Radio)- One person was airlifted to St Louis following an accident that occurred in Fayette County on Sunday morning.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred on US Route 40, approximately 3,461 feet west of CR 100E, at 12:29am.
The report states that a box truck driven by 28 year old, Mark P Mullen, of Aurora, Colorado was traveling eastbound on Route 40 and went off the roadway to the right.
The vehicle traveled 559 feet before striking a tree head-on.
Mullen was entrapped in the vehicle and was extricated by the Mulberry Grove and Vandalia Fire Departments.
He was taken to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St Louis, Missouri by Air Evac.
Mullen was cited for improper lane usage.
