The Mercatus Center at George Mason University released its new state financial rankings yesterday and Illinois is 50th.
Researchers judged the states on cash solvency, long-run solvency, budget solvency, service-level solvency and trust fund solvency.
Mercatus ranked Nebraska as the best state in the nation.
