Springfield, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking to start work on a new mental health treatment center by next spring.
Governor Rauner’s administration this week announced plans for a 200-bed, 150 million-dollar mental health and medical facility in Joliet.
Illinois is moving ahead with the project because of a 2007 lawsuit that demanded better mental health care in the state’s prisons.
