Springfield, IL -(Effingham Radio) – Summer is here, and Illinois still doesn’t have a Good Samaritan law for pets.
The Illinois House this spring approved a plan to allow someone to break a car window to rescue a dog or a cat.
The Illinois Senate didn’t vote on the plan yet.
State Rep. David Olsen says he hopes that lawmakers will revisit his idea in the fall.
Until then, police and animal rescue officials say your best bet to rescue an animal is to call the authorities.
