Building & Grounds:
– Water Testing: Mr. Whitt has changed out the majority of the fixtures that was discussed last
month. Once all are installed, we will retest the water.
-High School Baseball Field Lights: Nothing new to report this month.
-Sound Baffles for HS Gym: We have had a representative from G&S Architectural Products,
out of St. Louis come and he took room dimensions and sound tests with a meter, and will be
providing us a quote for baffles. This will provide us a baseline for cost.
Technology:
-The District Technology Team met on Wednesday, November 01, 2017 and began the process
of identifying grade level expectations for technology understanding for our students. The team
will continue to work on the curriculum scope and sequence as well as advancing our use of
technology as a teaching and learning tool.
-SmartBoard or Interactive TV: We will be visiting Greenville School District in the near future
to view their interactive televisions and how they use in two of their classrooms.
-USDA Polycom Grant: I was notified on October 30th that we will be a recipient of the grant.
Our district will be the fiscal agent for the grant that includes other districts within the state;
Oregon, Hutsonville, Mt. Morris, Urbana and Altamont. The University of Illinois is a partner as
well and will serve as the hub for distance learning data. I spent a good portion of last year
working on this grant and I’m looking forward to the opportunities it will allow us to provide to
our students, but also for us to share with other districts.
-Next Generation Device: The Team will be meeting to discuss and finalize what our next
device will be. Our lease ends in June, so we will need to make decisions on how many of the
current devices we want to purchase and how many new devices moving forward.
