The Illinois State Police District 12 recently released the results from Roadside Safety Checks. The checks were held in Clay County in October. District 12 police officers issued 11 written warnings and made 6 arrests/citations during the patrols. The following is the total law enforcement activity that was taken per violation during the Roadside Safety Checks.

- Occupant Restraint Offenses- 1
- Registration Offenses- 3
- Driver’s License Offenses- 2
- Insurance Violations-2
The Roadside Safety Checks were held to keep roads safe by removing driver’s that were under the influence of drugs/alcohol from the roads. Driving while impaired from alcohol/drugs is a major factor in more than 30% of the fatal accidents in Illinois. Across the United States, nearly 10,000 people lose their lives each year from impaired driving. The Illinois State Police District 12 is reminding drivers to “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”.
