An Effingham man has been charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
23 year old, John Criner was arrested by the Effingham Police Department on October 3rd. We spoke with Effingham County State’s Attorney, Bryan Kibler, regarding Criner’s arrest. According to Kibler, a firearm was reported stolen after a residential burglary. This firearm was later discovered with a defaced serial number. Kibler stated that following an investigation, Criner had attempted to sell the firearm.
Criner is charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm, a Class 2 Felony. Additionally, this charge is nonprobational, as Criner pled guilty to the Class 2 Felony of Burglary last year. According to Kibler, Criner is facing up to 14 years in prison.
