A Farina woman was injured in an accident that occurred on I-57 southbound south of Farina at 6:00am on Wednesday.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, 57 year old, Cynthia Dippold was traveling southbound I-57 in the left lane when she momentarily looked away from the roadway to watch a crash cleanup in the northbound lanes. Dippold was unaware of the tow truck with its lights on parked on the left shoulder of the south lanes. Dippold veered off the roadway and struck the tow truck, skidding over the southbound lanes and coming to a rest in the right ditch. Dippold was taken to Salem Community Hospital.
Cynthia Dippold was cited for failure to yield to a stationary authorized emergency vehicle (Scott’s Law).
