Four Indianapolis residents were injured in an accident that occurred on I-57 N/B, nine miles south of Salem, at 6:18pm on Thursday.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, 28 year old, Marvin Otoniel Flores was traveling northbound on I-57 in the passing lane when he braked for an unknown reason. Flores lost control of the vehicle and it skidded off the interstate into the east ditch. Flores’ vehicle then struck a tree.
Flores was taken to St Louis University Hospital by Air Evac for treatment. A 17 year old passenger was also seriously injured and was taken to Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St Louis by Air Evac. Flores’ other two passengers, 29 year old, Wuilinton Samir Ruiz Oliva and 26 year old, Melbin Joel Tablada Flores were taken to St Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for treatment.
Marvin Flores was cited for improper lane usage and no valid driver’s license.
