The Effingham County Emergency System Board met for their quarterly and monthly meeting on Tuesday. During the quarterly meeting the board discussed testing and maintenance of radio tones and pagers along with procedures to follow if local emergency services were experiencing difficulties. The quarterly meeting adjourned and role was called for the regular monthly meeting.
During the regular meeting the Board heard from Jodi Moomaw, systems administrator, about her recent discussions with state representatives David Reis and John Cavaletto about funding for the County’s Emergency Telephone services. According to Moomaw, the state is behind on several 2015 payments to Effingham County and has not provided any funding during 2016. Ultimately Moomaw said that state funding was “up in the air.”
Chairman Nick Althoff also took time to recognize Effingham County employees for National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
