ALTAMONT, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Altamont Board of Education made personnel moves at a recent school board meeting.
According to a press release from Altamont Community Unit 10 Schools, the Board began their meeting by recognizing accomplishments in the District with the “Pause for Applause”, including the 7th Grade Girls Basketball Team for a Regional Championship, Sectional Championship, and 3rd Place State Finish and the 8th Grade Girls Basketball Team for a Regional Championship.
The Board then took the following actions:
- Approved the Tax Levy as presented at the November meeting
- Approved an intergovernmental agreement between AJHS and Altamont Lutheran Interparish School for a co-op jr high softball team
- Approved the addition of two business classes and A.P. Biology to the ACHS course catalog
- Approved the hire of Brittany Storer as a teacher of elementary education, Jerry Ritchel as a full time custodian, Dusty Miller as a transportation aide and recess aide, Lisa Reardon as a Jr High Track Coach, Clint Reardon and Justin Osteen as volunteer coaches for Jr High Track, Sam Plum as the 5th and 6th Grade volunteer Assistant Basketball Coach, Carly Dorr as an interim Dance Coach.
- Approved the formation of a 5th and 6th Grade Cheer Program coached by volunteer coach Dena Beccue
- Approved the school sponsored Trap Shooting Team
- Approved the seeking of bids for a new 36 passenger school bus
The Altamont Community Unit 10 Schools is located on South Ewing Street in Altamont.
