Effingham, Ill – Poverty Levels in the U.S. are exponentially increasing, and in Illinois this is no exception. According to a recent study from the U.S. Census published by the Illinois News Connection, “13 percent of Illinois residents are still living in poverty.” Of those in poverty, 512 thousand of them are children. Catholic Charities in Effingham County is always working to combat the hunger crisis in the local area.
