A Louisiana man was killed in an accident that occurred on I-57, 10 miles north of Salem, shortly before 10:00am on Wednesday.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, 80 year old, Albert H Rhodes, of Arcadia, Louisiana was traveling southbound on I-57 when he crossed the median, spun sideways, and entered the northbound lanes of I-57. At the same time, a vehicle driven by 49 year old, Tammy M Shaw, of Winder, Georgia was traveling northbound on I-57 when Rhodes’ vehicle entered its lane. Shaw struck the driver’s side of Rhodes’ vehicle.
Rhodes’ passenger, 62 year old, Virginia N Crosby, of Arcadia, Louisiana was taken to Salem Hospital for treatment. Rhodes was flown to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St Louis, where he succumbed to his injuries.
