(Chicago, IL) — Higher prices at the pump didn’t stop holiday travelers this weekend. Triple-A says the national average for a gallon of regular gas is two-dollars 64-cents. Illinois’ average price is two-dollars 59-cents a gallon. Triple-A says Hurricane Harvey is to blame. Experts say they expect the aftermath of the storm will keep gas prices high for the next few weeks.
