Four people were injured in an accident that occurred 7 miles east of Marshall on I-70 shortly before 5:30pm on Friday.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, Ismael Rasool, of Michigan was traveling eastbound on I-70 in a semi tractor-trailer and was slowed in traffic due to traffic being backed up on I-70 from a crash in Indiana. At the same time, Harvinder Sandhu, of Canada was traveling eastbound on I-70 in a semi tractor-trailer and struck the back of Rasool. Sandhu was transported by helicopter to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for treatment. Ismael Rasool and Rasool’s passenger, Ahmed Mugheer, of Michigan were transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital by ambulance. Sandhu’s passenger, Munish Kumar, of Canada was transported by ambulance to Union Hospital in Terre Haute.
Sandhu is being charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. According to the Illinois State Police, both eastbound lanes of I-70 were shut down for 4 hours as a result of the crash.
