Effingham County Jail – December 2, 2016:

  1. 28-year-old Walter H. Williams, of Salem, was arrested by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department on an Effingham County Warrant for Failure to Appear/Pay on Domestic Battery.
  2. 36-year-old Jamie L. Hays, of Effingham, was arrested by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department on Effingham County Problem Solving Mittimus.
  3. 38-year-old Charles A. Jackson, of Altamont, was arrested by the Altamont Police Department on a Marion County Warrant for Failure to Appear on Obstructing ID and was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine.
  4. 29-year-old Joseph A. Sowell, Greenup, was arrested by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department on Effingham County Mittimus for DUI/Alcohol.
  5. 26-year-old Kelsey L. Agney, of Shelbyville, was arrested by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department on an Effingham County Warrant for Failure to Appear on DUI/Alcohol. Bail of $425 was posted.
  6. 58-year-old Edward F. McDaniel was arrested by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department on an Effingham County Warrant for Failure to Pay Probation Fees. Bail of $400 was posted.

December 3, 2016:

  1. 24-year-old Allysha M. Toohey, of Cowden, was arrested by the Effingham Police Department and was charged with Retail Theft and (Civil Citation)Possession of Drug Equipment. Bail of $150 was posted.
  2. 32-year-old Licinda L. Sullivan, of Cowden, was arrested by the Effingham Police Department and was charged with Retail Theft. Bail of $150 was posted.
  3. 34-year-old Dallas E. Ingle, of Inman, South Carolina, was arrested by the Effingham Police Department and charged with DUI/Alcohol, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, and Disobeying a Stop Sign.

December 4, 2016:

  1. 37-year-old Lisa A. Smigla, of Tuscon, Arizona, was arrested by the Illinois State Police and charged with DUI/Alcohol and Speeding 84 MPH in 70 MPH zone. Bail of $150 and her Driver’s Licence was posted.
  2. 21-year-old Cody R. Heuerman, of Effingham was arrested by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department and charged with DUI/Alcohol and Driving in the Wrong Lane. Bail of $100 and his Driver’s Licence was posted.
  3. 22-year-old Kieth R. Lasher, Effingham, was arrested by the Effingham Police Department and charged with Driving While Licence Suspended, Expired Registration Sticker, and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. Bail of $150 was posted.
  4. 20-year-old Travis A. Durbin, of Effingham, was arrested by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia-Cocaine, (Civil Citation) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

December 5, 2016:

  1. 35-year-old Jesse L. Braaten, of Topeka, Kansas, was arrested by the Illinois State Police and Charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of drug Paraphernalia, Driving While Licence Suspended, Improper Use of Registration, and Speeding 87 MPH in a 70 MPH zone.
  2. 64-year-old Robert D. Carroll, of Topeka, Kansas, was arrested by the Illinois State Police and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, (Civil Citations) Possession of Cannabis (less than 10 grams) and Possession of Drug Equipment.

CRASHES

 December 1, 2016:

  1. At 3:21 P.M. at the intersection of Raney and Pike a vehicle driven by Meghan R. Kessinger, 24, Cowden, rear-ended a vehicle driven by Michael B. Steuart, 27, Teutopolis.  No injuries and no citations.

December 3, 2016:

  1. Between 10:00 A.M. and 10:30 A.M. at 311 Rinehart an unknown vehicle struck a parked vehicle owned by Frederick Wear, 67, Effingham.  No injuries and no citations at this time.

December 4, 2016:

INVESTIGATIONS

  1. A residential burglary occurred in the 700th block of E. Jefferson between 6:00 P.M. 12/2/16 and 12:00 A.M. 12/3/16.  Stolen was a Playstation 4 with two controllers and assorted cords valued at $520.00, 16 Playstation games valued at $1,070.00, an XBox 360 with controller valued at $300.00, 20 XBox games valued at $1,200.00, a laptop computer valued at $1,200.00, and a backpack valued at $100.00.
  2. Retail theft occurred from Walmart, 1204 Ave of Mid America, on 12/3/16 at approximately 2:25 P.M.  Stolen were several items including a Star Shower Laser Light Christmas Display valued at $39.88.
