The Charleston Police Department received reports that shots were fired in the vicinity of 9th and Grant early Friday morning. Later, around 2:30 a.m., more shots were reported in the 1500 Block of Edger Drive and a bullet hole was found in the window of an apartment. No one was injured. Earlier that morning, Police had responded to an altercation between males and females in the 1500 block of Edger Drive. Both parties were questioned, but no action was taken.
During the investigation of the second shooting, evidence was discovered that confirmed that the first shooting did place in the 2200 block of 9th Street.
Throughout Friday, police detained six individuals who have since been released after questioning. Additionally, a residence and vehicle that may have been used by suspects were searched after a warrant was issued.
At this time, authorities believe that these crimes are connected.
