(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner says the November election is important to the future of the state of Illinois, but he’s avoiding the top of the ticket. Rauner was not among the GOP leaders joining Donald Trump at his Wednesday stops in Chicago and Bolingbrook, though Rauner has donated millions to legislative races, which he says will affect state budget negotiations. He says to the extent that the agents of the status quo hold onto or expand their control, the chances for a good budget outcome for the public go down. Donald Trump promises change, but Rauner refused once again to discuss the presidential race.
