The Illinois State Police is reminding motorists to drive safely this weekend, both on and off road.
As Labor Day weekend is one of the busiest periods for travel, practicing safe drivingĀ is imperative for both on-road and off-road vehicles. The Illinois State Police is reminding all motorists to avoid the “fatal-four” most common factors of fatal vehicular accidents; Speeding, driving while under the influence, distracted driving and failure to wear a seat belt or helmet.
Illinois Sate Police District 12 commander, Captain Cory Ristvedt said, “Operation of off-road recreational vehicles in a safe manner is imperative to arriving alive. When alcohol is added, the chance for error increases tremendously- and the effect can be deadly”.
The “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign concludes on September 5th, and ISP officers will demonstrate zero tolerance for impaired drivers.
