Local Congressman John Shimkus recently praised the efforts of Teutopolis resident Mrs. Jack Koester for the Pro-Life Movement. Koester formed the Effingham County Right To Life with a group of other concerned citizens in 1973 and has served as the group’s secretary ever since.
During her time in the position she helped grow the organization by hosting events such as prayer vigils and fundraisers. She also co-founded the Family Life Center in Effingham, an organization that provides education and support to expecting parents in need.
Koester is still recovering from a stroke she suffered last fall, but continues to encourage other Effingham residents to carry on pro-life efforts in the area.
