Representatives of the Better Business Bureau (BBB), based in St. Louis, visited Effingham Wednesday to contact, and raise awareness of the organization, to local businesses. According to Regional Director, Joey Keys, the BBB is a non-profit organization that provides reviews for businesses and charity organizations.
According to Keys, data for the BBB’s Reviews come from consumer reports.
In the BBB rating system, an A+ is the best grade. If a company is rated at a D or F, Keys says that the BBB will often send out an alert for consumers. Companies can earn a low grade by failing to provide services they promised or having poor customer service. Businesses can also become accredited with the BBB after a vetting process that looks at a company’s history and practices.
