Jason Heyward hit a solo home run in the first to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead. The Cubs added 4 runs in the top of the fourth with a Rizzo solo home run and a Montero 3 run home run to give the Cubs a 5-0 lead. The Braves scored one run in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by GarcĂa to make it 5-1. A Bryant 2 run home run in the top of the fifth made it 7-1. The Cubs added another run in the sixth with a Fowler RBI double. The Braves scored a run in the bottom of the seventh on a RBI triple by Inciarte to make it 8-2.
Arrieta got his tenth win of the season. Arrieta gave up 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 3 and walking 2 over 7 innings. Arrieta is now 10-2 on the year. Wisler took the loss falling to 2-7 on the season. Wisler gave up 5 runs on 7 hits while striking out 2 over 4 innings.
