A San Bernardino man snapped two utility poles and crashed into a tree yesterday when he lost control of his vehicle. 24-year-old Karl A. Johnson was driving southbound on North Main Street in, just west of 7th Street in Flora, at a high rate of speed between 70-80 mph when witnesses observed him swerving out of his lane and driving erratically. Johnson lost control and his vehicle jumped the curb, snapped two utility poles, and collided with a tree and came to rest on its top.
Johnson was able to climb out the overturned vehicle and was transported to Clay County Hospital for treatment. He is charged with Failure to reduce speeds to avoid an Accident and Improper Lane Usage.
