Shark movies seem to fascinate us. The terror of feeling something grab you from below that remains invisible until it’s too late is natural for us. Shark flicks also resonate with our fear towards the untamable power of nature. No matter how smart we are, no matter what new tech we have access to, there will always be situations where nature will win. Just ask ole capt’ Quint.

Anyway, a less far out shark flick is hitting theaters on June 29. The Shallows stars Blake Lively and a great white shark. It actually looks pretty good. It’ll be interesting to see how much movie director Jaume Collet-Serra can squeeze out of Blake Lively perched on a rock. Here’s the new trailer.
